It is not possible to do it in one day. It leaves from Cusco at 6:00 am by van for 6 hours to Hydroelectric. After lunch, walk to Aguas Calientes for 2.5 hours along the railway line. to spend a night in the town in a private room in Aguas Calientes, our guide will receive you so that the next day you can visit Machu Picchu with him and the group, then return to the hydroelectric plant by train or on foot to take the van back to Cusco. DAY 1: CUSCO – HYDROELECTRIC – AGUAS CALIENTES

6am We`ll pick up you in the morning from your hotel in Cusco to go by car to Hidroeléctrica after 6 hours of driving we stop in Santa Teresa to take a lunch in local restaurants. After lunch, we continue by car for another 30 minutes to Hidroeléctrica where the end of the road is located and the train tracks to Aguas Calientes begin. It’s time to prepare for a 2.5hrs (10km) flat hike to the base city of Machu Picchu. Once in the city, we take you to the hostel with hot shower and relax after having dinner in the city and prepare for next day in Machu Picchu.

 DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Wake up early to have breakfast at the hostel to get to Machu Picchu in time to see the most iconic Inca constructions almost without people. There are two ways to get to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. bus or walk

BUS UP: If you want to go up to Machupicchu by bus, you must buy a bus ticket in Aguas Calientes one night before. Early in the morning around 5:00 am we go to the bus stations to line up to take the first buses (12usd one way) to Machupicchu. The buses start leaving at 5:30 am from Aguas Calientes to Machupicchu with a frequency of 10 minutes, 25 minutes by bus to the main entrance of Machupicchu. Then we enter Machupicchu when they open at 6:30 in the morning.

WALKING UP to Machupicchu takes 1:20hrs at a regular pace. Start walking at 4:30am in the morning from Aguas Calientes to the first checkpoint located right at the base of Machu Picchu which opens at 5:00am. This checkpoint is only for trekkers where you must show your entrance to Machupicchu and your passport after that you must walk upstairs to Machu Picchu which takes a 45 minute walk you have to do almost 1700 Inca steps. Once at the main checkpoint, enter Machupicchu. Any option you`ll arrive at Machupicchu in the morning to see the sunrise. Once inside, you will have time to enjoy the incredible views and take pictures, then we offer you a 2.5 hour guided tour in Machupicchu, you will have free time to explore Machupicchu and take photos.

At the end of the visit, you have 02 options to go down walking or by bus.

Finally, we boarded the van in the direction of Cusco

How much is the tourist ticket?

There are 2 types of tourist ticket: – General tourist ticket, which has a cost of 130 soles and includes 16 attractions. Among them are Attractions of the city tour, the Sacred Valley, Maras – Moray, and some museums. – Partial tourist ticket, which has a cost of 70 soles, and includes only certain attractions depending on the tour that takes place: City Tour, Sacred Valley, and Maras – Moray.

How do I avoid altitude sickness?

Take Soroche (Diamox) pills, eat small meals, drink coca tea, drink lots of water, and avoid alcohol (it’s a dehydrator). The best way to avoid altitude sickness is to acclimatize yourself. The recommended approach for acclimatization is to ascend gradually, spending at least 24 hours at Your hotel.

Is the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu worth it?

The walk up to Machu Picchu can be seen as part of the experience. However, the bus is an option for those who are tired after a long trek, or who just want to save their energy for all the walking at the top.

Where is Huayna (Wayna) Picchu?

Huayna Picchu Mountain is the peak located to the north of Machu Picchu citadel. It is the backdrop to the classic image of Machu Picchu. The peak offers inspiring views of the ruins and 360° views of the area. The climb to the summit takes 45 minutes, it is a challenging trek and is very steep in parts. Limited to 400 a day, tickets must be purchased as a combo ticket at the same time as your entrance to Machu Picchu. This ticket cannot be purchased separately and is always in high demand.

What is Machu Picchu Mountain?

Machu Picchu Mountain is the peak located to the south-west of Machu Picchu citadel. The trek offers unparalleled sights of the ruins and panoramic views of the surrounding scenery. The trek is wide and well-marked. It is a moderate/challenging trek and takes 90 minutes to ascend. Limited to 400 a day, tickets must be purchased as a combo ticket at the same time as your entrance to Machu Picchu. This ticket cannot be purchased separately.
